Airfield Farm 18.04.10
Summer seemed to have come early for the first of Coventry Junior Motocross Club’s championship round at Airfield Farm. With close racing and battles throughout the groups it made for a fantastic day of racing.
Auto’s first and Mason Glover had a flyer of a first race to take the race win ahead of Aaron Patstone, with Tyrone Brown in third. Aaron Patstone soon got his head round the track though and picked up the pace to take the final two race wins for first place overall. Race two and Tyrone fought through to second place with Dave Woodcock in third. In the final race Mason got back into the swing of things and rode a great race to come in second ahead of Tyrone. Mason and Tyrone both ended the day on equal points, however Mason took the overall second with his race one win.
Juniors next and a straight forward day for Callum Green who was unstoppable in the lead, taking all three race wins. However the battle for second and third was on between Lewis Huckerby, Dillon Fitzpatrick and Bradley Clarke. In race one Lewis rode a superb race to come in second ahead of Dillon. However Dillon pushed on in races two and three to come in second, bringing with him Bradley who took third.
Frazer Harrison looked set for a hat trick after winning races one and two, however it was Mitchell Warhurst who took the final race win after a third in race one and second in race two. With yet another pair finishing on joint points, Frazer’s two wins grabbed him the overall race win. Danny Vieira was also riding brilliantly from start to finish with a second in race one and third in race two getting him the third overall. Oliver Benton kept the pressure on all day and finally broke through to the top three in race three to come third, giving him fourth overall.
Matt Harrison on the other hand did make it a hat trick of race wins as he stormed through the pack to take the overall win in the Big Wheel class. Nick Gray also rode a magnificent race as fought off the rest to take second in all three races. James Ostle (I apologise if I have the surname wrong) had a fantastic first two races to take third place, however was beaten to the line by Toby Scott in race three, who in turn recovered well from his race one incident.
Kurt Shorter was on top form in the Seniors as he put a comfortable gap between himself and the chasing pack to take all three race wins. Jordan Loomes pushed hard in races one and two for second place, coming in second overall. Jamie Scott followed him through in third in race one, with Harry Bradley coming third in race two. Harry pushed hard in race three to take second place ahead of Jordan Hughes, who pushed hard to take third place. However it was Harry who took the overall third place.
Charles Davies set the pace for the AMX class as he powered off the start line into the lead for all three races. Applying the pressure in second was Richard McDermott who pushed hard right to the very end for the overall second. Craig Jacques had a great ride to take third place in all three races and the third overall.
Brad O’Leary carried on the fast growing tradition of all three race wins in the Open class to take the overall win. Mitchell Bates had to keep up with the fast pace to stay ahead of Graham Hill to come second and third respectively.
It was a great meeting for all and looking forward to the next at Stratford.
